Parole Reviews

Once an individual has served the minimum term of their sentence, depending on the circumstances, they may be automatically released or they will be able to apply to the parole board to seek an early release from prison on parole. Our specialist solicitors are able to assist and advise on your parole review regardless of your situation.

An individual subject to a sentence of Imprisonment for Public Protection (IPP) will need to fight for their right to parole due to the alleged threat they impose on society. If a friend or member of your family is in this situation, do not hesitate to contact our specialist lawyers on their behalf to ensure they have the best advice possible.

Category A Review

Individuals in prison are placed in category’s depending on their level of risk. Category A is seen as the highest level of security for male prisoners as there is a high level of risk that they may escape. They are placed under the highest level of security as if they do escape, they pose a danger to both the public and national security. The equivalent for female and young prisoners is ‘Restricted Status’.

A Category A Review is where a panel considers and reviews that particular prisoner’s security status in order to determine if they can be placed in a less serious category. Our specialist solicitors can assist in your application to have your security category status reviewed. If successful, they will not be classed as a ‘Category A’ prisoner anymore and they will be able to enter into everyday prison activities such as behaviour programs which previously they would be unable to do.

Our expert solicitors will seek to provide advice and assistance in relation to the Category A review with the aim of having the individual’s security risk reduced.

If you, a friend or member of your family are currently in custody and require advice for a parole review, do not hesitate to contact us.
