Ellie Boyd

Ellie Boyd Solicitor

I studied for my undergraduate degree in Law (LLB) at Teesside University, graduating in July 2019 with a high 2:1 classification. Thereafter, I went on to study the Legal Practice Course (LPC) and Master of Laws (LLM) at The University of Law in Leeds. Nearing the end of my postgraduate studies, I was offered a Training Contract with a local firm in Teesside.

During my period of recognised training, I became a fully accredited Police Station Representative and went on to represent many clients in the early stages of criminal proceedings and assisting with various matters as they were heard both in the Magistrates’ Court and the Crown Court. Having legal representation at the Police Station is paramount, regardless of what offence a person is accused of. I pride myself on providing appropriate advice, alongside ensuring a client’s legal rights and entitlements are afforded and protected during their detention and questioning.

Following the completion of my training period, I qualified as a Solicitor and was admitted to the roll in August 2022. I joined Watson Woodhouse Solicitors as a newly qualified Solicitor in October 2022. Since my employment with Watson Woodhouse Solicitors, my experience, knowledge and confidence as a young lawyer has excelled. I am currently working towards becoming a Duty Qualified Solicitor and thereafter, I hope to acquire my Higher Rights of Audience, so that I can advocate for clients at the Crown Court and High Court.

I have a wide-ranging experience defending clients who are accused of crimes which can be regarded as ‘low level’, such as Public Order and Shop Theft, to serious sexual offences such as rape and sexual assault, together with litigating on matters such as grievous bodily harm with intent and murder.

As a Defence Lawyer, my clients are at the forefront of everything I do and I strive to get my clients the best result regardless of the circumstances of their case. I have been regarded as having a ‘friendly’ and ‘empathetic’ approach and I believe this is something which is very important to a client, especially one who may have never had any involvement with the Police or the Criminal Justice System.
