I started my journey into the legal profession in 2019, when I began studying for my degree at Teesside University, studying Law, Criminology and Criminal Justice. I am currently in the final year of my 4-year course. During my 3rd year in 2022, I was offered the opportunity to work at Watson Woodhouse, a local firm to my university. The opportunity was perfect. I began my role in October 2022.
During my time at Watson Woodhouse, I am undergoing the work to become a fully accredited police station representative. This involves attending the police stations when a client is arrested. This is the starting process in the legal system and plays an important role. During my time at the station, I will advise and protect their legal rights during an interview.
Alongside this, I also work within the ‘Criminal Defence Direct’ (CDD) department. This is a 24/7 service, in which I provide telephone legal advice for those in custody who do not require an interview. No matter the time.
After I graduate in July 2023, I will begin my legal practice course (LPC) alongside my masters degree. With the aim of becoming a fully qualified solicitor in the near future.
