Family Law – Public Law Proceedings and Private Law Children
I graduated from Teesside University in 2015, achieving my LLB Law Degree, and continued my studies at Leeds Beckett University completing my Legal Practice Course, Postgraduate Diploma.
Following this, I began working at a law firm in County Durham, shortly after the completion of my Legal Practice Course. I was based within the Family Law Department under the branch of Public Law, which allowed me to gain extensive experience with Local Authority children matters such as Child Protection Conferences, PLO Meetings and Care Proceedings.
I then began working for a local firm where I completed work within the Criminal Crown Court and Actions Against the Police departments. Additionally, I began the process of completing my Police Station Accreditation so I could provide advice and assistance at the Police Station, once people have been arrested.
In April 2018, I was delighted to be offered an 18 month training contact with Watson Woodhouse with a view to qualify as a Solicitor within Family Law. Currently, I am undertaking my seats in both Private and Public Family Law whereby I am primarily focussing upon children matters. This role allows me to deal with matters whereby the Local Authority are involved within family and private child arrangements. Whilst at Watson Woodhouse, I have completed my Police Station Accreditation therefore I am a Police Station Representative for the firm.
I believe there is a large crossover in both Criminal and Family law as I work with people who are placed in a vulnerable situations and in need for urgent advice. Consequently, I believe I am able to provide direct advice when needed whilst understanding our clients’ difficult circumstances.
