I am Head of Magistrates Court and Police Station departments, and a Director.
I am a Duty Solicitor and a Higher courts Advocate. My specialism is Criminal Law. My working life primarily involves representing clients in Magistrates courts and police stations, with occasional appearances at Crown Court.
I qualified as a Solicitor in 1988 and have spent my working life with firms on Teesside. I joined Watson Woodhouse in 1992.
Having started out doing a mix of mainly legal aid work, I was specialising in Crime by the mid 1990s. My case load varies from road traffic to murder, with a whole lot in between. I have always felt very comfortable in court, and enjoy the cut and thrust of advocacy every bit as much as I did 20 years ago.
I particularly enjoy trials, where I feel I can make a difference to the outcome for clients. I admit to being a bad loser but thankfully have a pleasing success rate.
