Areas of specialism: Criminal Defence – Motoring (exceptional hardship)
I studied at Northumbria University for the LLB (Hons) Exempting Degree. After graduating in July 2004, I returned to Halifax to complete an 18 month Training Contract before qualifying in January 2006. I have dealt with a range of cases, including defending a 17 year old accused of murdering his 16 year old best friend. I have an excellent rapport with all those that I represent and I have a way of making clients feel comfortable without being judged. I am approachable and caring about the work that I do and always put justice at the forefront of my mind when advising and representing a whole host of different people from different walks of life accused of varying offences.
I am a member of The Law Society, Criminal Litigation Accreditation Scheme
R v LR – Murder – convicted after trial, with sentence reduced on appeal to the Court of Appeal
R v JR – Death by Careless Driving, after full preparation by myself the case resulted in ‘no case to answer’ before the Crown Court and the case was dismissed
R v LJ – Exceptional Hardship – I successfully argued for my client to maintain her licence after accruing 12 penalty points
R v DH – Assaults – I represented this defendant on 3 occasions whereby he was acquitted following trials before Bradford Magistrates Courts
R v RM + Others – Trading Standards Prosecution. Defendant pleaded guilty on a basis accepting a number of offences and gaining credit for early admissions.
