In 20o2, I graduated from Northumbria University Law School and qualified as a solicitor 2 years later. For the next ten years, I worked at a law firm in Northumberland and then moved to Watson Woodhouse.
Currently, I am a Senior Crown Court Advocate and spend most days in Crown Court putting forward my clients’ cases. I have represented clients in cases spanning the seriousness spectrum in the Crown Court but have taken a particular focus on offences involving serious violence. Whether this involves murder or very serious assaults, there are certain legal principles that are common to a lot of violent offences that apply equally well to other cases.
Usually, I am asked to advise in cases which have an unusual complication that is a roadblock to a successful result. I find it rewarding to assist with a case suffering a particular problem that requires the application of a different way of thinking.
Being a holder of the Police Station and Duty Solicitor Accreditations, I have enough exposure to new cases to ensure I am always completely up to date with new practices and procedures as they develop. This has led me on some occasions to the Court of Appeal; experiences I am grateful for because not many lawyers are given the opportunity. I take the style of advocacy that one is required to perform before senior appeal judges and apply this to my daily work.
Also, I have a training role within the organisation and do my best to draw lessons from my 20 years of practice for the benefit of more junior colleagues.
I am happy to discuss your case with you, please contact our office if you would like to make an appointment.
