I studied Law at Durham University and graduated in 2007 with a 2:1 LLB (Hons).
I was fortunate enough to immediately join Watson Woodhouse as a paralegal and began studying for the Legal Practice Course on a part-time basis alongside my employment. I stayed with the firm to complete my training contract- where I enjoyed seats in varied areas of law- and qualified as a solicitor in January 2012.
After moving away from practice and spending time as a Director and manager of a legal transcription company, I returned to Watson Woodhouse in 2017. I specialise in child protection- where Social Services have concerns about the safety and welfare of children. I provide advice and reassurance to parents in the early stages of Social Services involvement and Initial Child Protection Conferences. Where concerns escalate or are sufficiently serious a Letter before Proceedings may be issued. I accompany parents to the PLO meeting and assist them in working with the Local Authority to address their concerns and prevent the matter from reaching Court.
Where an application to Court is made by the Local Authority, I represent Parents and Grandparents within those proceedings. I apply a proactive and non-judgmental approach to all cases; always with the aim, wherever it is safe to do so, of keeping families together.
