I specialise in public law proceedings:- proceedings brought by the Local Authority where there is an issue of a child being suspected to be at risk of harm, Care Proceedings, Child Protection Conferences, Public Law outline meetings, issues with Social Services.
I have worked in the legal profession since leaving university with a Law Degree in 1996. Initially I worked in Liverpool for a large civil defence firm, defending RTA and injury claims on behalf of the insurance companies. By 2000 I had moved to the beautiful edge of Lake District town of Kendal and joined a high street practice where I dealt with family law and criminal law cases.
In 2004, I moved back to my home town of Darlington and began to specialise in care proceedings, all aspects of child protection.
I became a Child protection specialist in 2008 and joined Watson Woodhouse in 2018 to join a fantastic family law team and continue Child Protection cases in Darlington and North Yorkshire.
I have been a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel since 2008.
DCC v B – case where twins were found to have suffered fractures after birth and parents accused of causing harm to the children by German medics – military family – family brought back to England and care proceedings issued. Able to prove with English specialists injuries were most probable birth injuries and children returned home
